Club History

The club Euxton Corinthians was formed in July 2008 and officially registered into the Lancashire Evening Post Sunday Football League (LEPSFL) where they are still competing today. What started as an idea by a group of friends, to get together on a Sunday and compete within a local league, has soon transferred into a team that is made up of people within the local community of Euxton and other surrounding areas.
During the initial weeks of forming the squad, Euxton had no fewer than 42 players signed on to play for them, all of whom managed to make a number of appearances for the club during its first season where they achieved promotion from Division 4, which was backed up by another promotion in their second season as they finished the season in second place, one point behind leaders Tarleton but with the best goal difference of any team competing in the LEPSFL as they ended the season on +86 after scoring 109 goals and conceding 23. The core of the initial squad is still present today, with some players moving away or finding it hard to commute to play for Euxton, whilst new players have come and signed on to take their place joining Euxton's aim to progress as far as their potential will take them within the LEPSFL, hoping to pick some silver-wear up along the way. Last season saw Euxton come close to taking the league title,
with 2 games to go the league was theirs to lose, win their final 2 games and they would have ended up two points clear at the top of the table. However it was not meant to be as they drew and lost their final two games which resulted in them finishing in third place behind rivals Tarleton and a team they beat twice in AFC Brig. Euxton's lads may feel hard done by as once again a bogey team cost them deer as they lost and drew with mid table minnows Gregson Lane Wanderers. However, the team will look to brush aside this set back and work hard to achieve promition in the 2011-2012 season.
Euxton Corinthians has been formed to provide the Euxton area with their first senior side which plays on a Sunday morning in the LEPSFL, a team that is not just a pub team, Euxton have organised training sessions and an aim to compete at the highest standard in the highest league available to them. The clubs first home pitch was on Ashton Park in Preston, the club has now moved onto Higher Walton playing fields as they searched for a better playing surface; however the club does have long term plans of accessing a private pitch nearer to Euxton as their aim is to draw more people in from the local community to support and watch their games.
The club is funded entirely by the money they raise themselves, through fund raising activities, signing on fees and sponsorship. The clubs first sponsor was Liberty Pensions who helped the club pay for their first home and away football kits, their home colours being red and black and their current away strip consisting of blue and black. Current sponsors of the clubs website is MBNA, a credit card company who provide sporting credit cards. The club is also thankful to The Euxton War Memorial Club (The Insti) who have given a generous donation to support the football club and help pay for its expenses. The Insti serves as the clubs base after their Sunday league games and is a welcoming working-mans clubs that takes an interest in the team.
However the club itself could not have been formed if it wasn't for the committee members who helped to make the whole thing possible, special thanks in particularly going to the Club Treasurer Jan Currie. Other members of the committee consist of Gavin Steele (Club Chairman), Andrew Currie (Club Second Secretary) and the club founder Danial Hogg (Player-Manager and Club Secretary). Euxton Corinthians are always on the lookout for companies, businesses or other parties who wish to help aid the clubs development, whilst also raising their own companies image; through advertisement whether on the clubs website, football strips or if they wish to make a donation to the clubs fund.
Whilst Euxton Corinthians Football Club's history may currently be a short one, the club still has big plans to progress and develop, one of their aims being to achieve Charter Standard Status in order to be recognised as a club that is organised and run effectively. The club is now aiming for another promotion up into Division 2 this year and possibly to have a cup run along the way. Euxton Corinthians aim and focus on being a friendly, competitive football club that will one day be able to play in-front of the Euxton Community on a local football pitch.
One thing is for certain, whenever and wherever Euxton Corinthians play, they will always try to keep to their motto and "please the crowd!"
